It is understood that the Yangtze finless porpoise is mainly distributed in the mainstream of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and in Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the Yangtze River ecology, the number of Yangtze finless porpoises observed in Yichang section of the Yangtze River has increased year by year.
